Applications are being accepted for the Public Transportation Advisory
Commission
(COLUMBIA, MO) - The City Clerk’s Office is accepting
applications for the Public Transportation Advisory Commission. The
purpose of this new commission is to:
● advise city staff with regard to transit policy and safety
matters concerning all forms of transit issues affecting the city;
● serve as a sounding board for citizen transit, pedestrian and
safety access issues as related to public transportation and make
recommendations to the City Council and city staff for appropriate
action;
● recommend rules and procedures governing public transit service
programs, equipment and facilities;
● aid in the development of a city Transportation Improvement
Program;
● create and review surveys and facilitate public input on public
transit programming and facility usage;
● recommend and promote marketing strategies for community
outreach programs in order to strengthen the transit image, increase
usage and integrate its role within the community; and
● study issues arising under the Columbia Transit Master Plan as
they relate to transportation and prepare reports to aid in the
development, implementation and general improvement of the master plan
relating to public transit.
The commission will consist of nine members. One member shall
represent the University of Missouri appointed by the chancellor of the
University of Missouri; one member shall be a member of the Disabilities
Commission appointed by that commission; and one member shall be a
member of the Bicycle/Pedestrian Commission appointed by that
commission. The other six members shall be appointed by the City
Council.
Applications can be obtained at the City Clerk’s Office or can
be found on the city’s Web site:

Applications must be returned to the City Clerk’s Office, 701 E.
Broadway, by noon on Friday, Feb. 5.
