City schedules interviews, community meetings with Water & Light
director candidates
COLUMBIA, MO (June 8, 2010) - Three candidates for city of Columbia
Water & Light director will be here June 11 for interviews and other
events to familiarize them with this community.
Candidates include:
• Tad A. Johnsen, currently power production superintendent with the
city’’s Water & Light Department;
• Timothy G. Luchsinger, assistant utility director, Grand Island
Utilities Department, Grand Island, Neb.; and
• Mack Thompson, former vice president, American Municipal Power,
Columbus, Ohio.
The public is invited to meet the candidates at an informal roundtable
reception in conference rooms 1A and B, City Hall, 4:30 – 6:30 p.m.
Feedback forms will be available for those who want to record their
opinions.
Friday’s full schedule will include:
• Formal interviews with the citizen committee appointed to advise the
city manager;
• A written exercise;
• Tours of Water & Light facilities and meetings with Water & Light
staff members;
• Interaction with senior city administrative staff; and
• Interviews with the city manager.
Water & Light Interim Director Mike Schmitz announced his retirement,
effective July 9. He has held the interim position since Sept. 5, 2009.
