Summer Food Program Begins Monday
Healthy Lunches Available to Kids Every Weekday
 
The Columbia/Boone County Department of Public Health and Human Services is celebrating its 10th year of providing nutritional summertime lunches to children 18 years of age or younger. Lunch in the Park will begin Monday, June 14th at Douglass Park. The USDA-funded program, an extension of the school free and reduced lunch program, will run through August 14th. Lunch will be served every weekday (except July 5th) from 11:30 am - 1:00 pm. 
 
In 2009, the Lunch in the Park program served over 4100 lunches. The complete, wholesome meals are prepared by Columbia Public Schools and served by volunteers. Persons interested in volunteering should contact Cindy Mustard at the Voluntary Action Center.
