Water boil order lifted for sections of Columbia
COLUMBIA, MO (May 7, 2010) - Two consecutive days of laboratory tests
confirm that the water for customers living in the Thornbrook and
Millcreek Manor subdivisions along with customers on Blackfoot Road,
Cedar Cliff Drive and Kraemer Court is safe to drink. Columbia Water and
Light had issued the precautionary boil order after water mains serving
the areas broke on Tuesday, May 4. The main breaks caused the water
pressure to drop substantially which could cause contamination.
According to standards set by the Department of Natural Resources,
Columbia Water & Light issued a precautionary water boil order.
The samples from the repaired water lines that Columbia Water & Light
collected required an incubation period of 24 hours before they could be
analyzed. Both sets of samples showed no bacterial contamination.
Customers will be notified by an automatic phone system and a hang tag
on their door.
