For Immediate Release:
Two Vehicle Extrication Accident Injuries Six

Fire Fighters from the Columbia Fire Department and Boone County Fire District along with four ambulances, and law enforcement responded to a report of a two vehicle accident at 6:42 PM on Friday, October 22, 2010 on North bound Stadium at the WB on ramp to I-70.

Fire fighters extricated three female patients from a 1998 Pontiac Bonneville one of which was transported with life threatening injuries. The other two were also transported with non-life threatening injuries to University Hospital. The extrication took approximately 25 minutes.

The second vehicle was a 1998 Mitsubishi Diamante; the female driver and a male passenger were transported by ambulance to University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. One of the two remaining female passengers was to go to the hospital by private vehicle.  

The Columbia Fire Department reminds all motorists to wear their seatbelts. The law requires all persons in the vehicle to be seat belted in but just as important is the fact that seat belts save lives.  

The Columbia Police Department is investigating the cause of the crash and should be contacted for any additional information.
