One For One Food Drive - Columbia Fire Fighters and Elected Officials to Announce Large Food Donation

COLUMBIA, MO (December 14, 2011) - If you ask any fire fighter what motivated them to join the fire service, the overwhelming answer is, "I want to help people." And while fire fighters help people with fires, medical emergencies, auto crashes, and other emergency events, they also know that many people need help finding their next meal.

Columbia Fire Fighters hope that Columbian's will rally around the "One For One" Holiday Food Drive for the Food Bank for Central and Northeast Missouri by donating food or cash at the northeast corner of Providence Road and Broadway on Thursday, December 15, 2011 from 6:00 am to 6:00 PM.

Columbia Fire Fighters will be on hand to accept your gracious donations of food or cash to help feed people who don't know where their next meal will come from. Fire Chief Charles Witt Jr. and Deputy Fire Chief Randall White have challenged fire fighters and others to donate with each agreeing to match donations up to 1 ton of food. That means one ton can become two, and two tons can become four.

In addition, elected officials including Columbia Mayor Bob McDavid, will be present at the event at 11:30 am to announce a major donation by a Missouri based food supplier. Joining them will be Miss Columbia and Columbia Fire Chief Charles Witt Jr.

Interviews and photo and video oppertunities will be available.
