New EZ Park cards for downtown parking available in January

COLUMBIA, MO (December 30, 2011) - EZ Park cards will be available again starting Jan. 3. EZ Park cards make it easier to park downtown by eliminating the need for quarters. The city's EZ Park cards were temporarily unavailable due to software changes and reprogramming of parking meters. EZ Park cards are accepted at all on-street meters, as well as the hourly parking spaces in city garages except the Seventh and Walnut garage.

Starting Jan. 3, new EZ Park cards will be available at Utility Customer Service in the lobby of City Hall at 701 E. Broadway, in the Public Works Department on the third floor of  City Hall, at the Boone County Government Center at 801 E. Walnut, and at the Turner Garage located on the MU campus.

The EZ Park cards can be recharged at any of the above locations or at the multi-space parking machines located in the Sixth and Cherry, Tenth and Cherry and Fifth and Walnut garages. The recharging station located in the Eighth and Cherry garage was recently removed. Older EZ Park Cards will still work and can continue to be used for downtown parking.

Parking is enforced in the downtown area Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and is free on Sunday. The city garages allow for free parking on Saturday and Sunday.
