The purpose of the hearing is to solicit public suggestions and proposals on the needs and priorities for public infrastructure, community facilities, community services, housing and supportive services for special needs populations and homeless facilities and services to be included in the city's 2013 annual action plan.

Types of activities discussed will include streets, sidewalks, storm drainage, parks and recreational facilities; the construction or renovation of community centers and buildings providing supportive services to various populations, groups or neighborhoods; economic development and job training activities, homeless shelters and transitional housing, supportive services for homeless and special needs populations and other improvement projects. All activities must be eligible for funding from the Department of Housing and Urban Development through Community

Development Block Grant funding, HOME funding, or other sources of HUD funding; and will primarily serve low to moderate income persons.

Prior to Feb. 17, written public comments concerning community development needs for the 2013 annual action plan may also be submitted to the Community Development Department, 701 E. Broadway, P.O. Box 6015, Columbia, MO 65205, or may be emailed to planning at GoColumbiaMo.com.

Residents of the city of Columbia are also invited to participate in a CDBG/HOME priority needs survey for fiscal year 2013 funding. Comments will be considered as public comment for the city's 2013 action plan. The online survey is located on the city's website at www.GoColumbiaMo.com on the home page under "announcements." All comments will be forwarded to the City Council after the end of the survey period Feb. 17.
