Damaged Gas Line Displaces Resident

COLUMBIA, MO (July 13, 2011) - For Immediate Release:

Damaged Gas Line Displaces Resident

 

Columbia Fire Fighters were called at 11:57 AM on Wednesday, July 13, 2011, to 208 Pinewood Dr for a reported gas odor outside.

 

When Fire Fighters arrived on the scene they reported a construction crew hit an gas line while working in front of 208 Pinewood. Ameren UE was notified and responded to shut down the broken ½ inch line. The resident of 208 Pinewood Dr was evacuated from her home during the incident. There were no injuries during the response to this event.

 

While this was a construction site operated by an independent contractor, the Columbia Fire Department wants to remind all citizens to call Dig Rite (1-800-344-7483) before digging on their property. In Missouri this is a law and a phone call can save all parties involved, time and money.
