Free Lunch in the Park Program Begins Today

Summer Food Program Begins Today

Healthy Lunches Available to Kids Every Weekday

 

The Columbia/Boone County Department of Public Health and Human Services is celebrating its 11th year of providing nutritional summertime lunches to children 18 years of age or younger. Lunch in the

Park began today, June 13th at Douglass Park. The USDA‐funded program, an extension of the school free and reduced lunch program, will run through August 12th. Lunch will be served every weekday (except July 4th) from 11:30 am ‐ 1:00 pm.

In 2010, the Lunch in the Park program served an average of 115 children each day. The complete, wholesome meals are prepared by Columbia Public Schools and served by volunteers. Persons interested in volunteering should contact Cindy Mustard at the Voluntary Action Center.
