Shred Fest at Columbia Skate Park

COLUMBIA, MO (June 15, 2011) - Don't miss Shred Fest! This skateboarding event, geared toward celebrating National Skateboarding Day, will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 18 at the Columbia Skate Park in Cosmo Park. The event will feature demos from the skate team The Escapists from Kansas City, free time to skate and helmet giveaways. It is free of charge.

All ages are welcome to participate and the event is open to skaters of all skill levels and for those who just want to watch. Participants will be able to enter a high ollie, tic-tac, best trick contests, and King of the Mountain for advanced skaters, with cash prizes.  Helmets are required for all contests, regardless of age.  The day will also feature great music, food and giveaways.

Go Skateboarding Day is presented by Columbia Parks and Recreation, Parkside Skate Shop, Tiger Pilot Club, and Youth Community Coalition.
