Origin, Cause and Damage Estimates - 1206 Park DeVille Place

COLUMBIA, MO (June 21, 2011) - Fire Investigator's examining the scene of the fire at 1206 Park DeVille on Monday, June 21, 2011 have determined the fire began in the master bedroom of the condominium unit and was intentionally set using available combustible materials such as bedding, clothing, etc. Evidence consisting of a disposable lighter was found in the room where the fire was set. 

Fire investigators belive the individual arrested at the scene used furniture to barricade himself in the master bedroom and then set the fire.He escaped the fire when he jumped from a small balcony situated off of the master bedroom.

Fire investigators looked for and have ruled out all unintentional causes for the fire.

Damage to unit 1206 is estimated at $35-40,000.00. There was some water damage to the unit just below 1206 and there was smoke damage to four of the eight units. The damage estimates for the units other then 1206 are unknown.
