BIKE, WALK & WHEEL WEEK IS FAST APPROACHING
One of Columbia's most notable events, Bike, Walk & Wheel Week, is scheduled for May 14-21. The week is designed to promote and support active transportation and allows the opportunity for Columbians to build physical activity into their daily routines.
This year's events are coordinated by the Columbia/Boone County Department of Public Health and Human Services, Columbia Parks and Recreation, and the PedNet Coalition. The week is packed with activities such as:
*Saturday, May 14: Kids Bike Safety at Shelter Insurance
*Monday, May 16: MKT Secret Access Trail Ride--begins at the Flat Branch Park Gazebo
*Thursday, May 19: Try Transit Day--everybody rides free, all day long!
*Friday, May 20: Breakfast Station Day at 11 locations in the city
*Saturday, May 21: Wheelchair Wash and Roll at Stephens Lake Park
Also during this week "Your Bike is Your Ticket" on Transit. Individuals can utilize the bike racks on Columbia Transit buses and ride for free to any destination on the city bus routes.
For the full schedule of events and to register, go to the Health Department or Parks and Recreation's websites at www.gocolumbiamo.com or the PedNet Coalition's website at www.pednet.org. Everyone who registers will be entered into a drawing to win a free bicycle and other prizes.
