Sewer work on Walnut Street

COLUMBIA, MO (May 31, 2011) - At 7 a.m. on Thursday, June 2, the Public Works Sewer Utility will repair a sanitary sewer main on Walnut Street between College Avenue and Short Street. The work is expected to be completed by 5 p.m. the same day, weather permitting. 

Walnut Street will be closed to traffic between College Avenue and Short Street during the sewer repairs. If the work is postponed due to inclement weather, it will be rescheduled for Friday, June 3.  

Motorists are urged to exercise extreme caution when driving near the work area and use the following alternate routes: 

* Eastbound traffic on Walnut Street should detour south at Short Street to Broadway Street. 

* Westbound traffic on Walnut Street should detour south on College Avenue to Broadway Street, or north on College Avenue to Ash Street.
