Water line construction project on Elm Street
COLUMBIA, MO (May 31, 2011) - On Thursday, June 2 from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Columbia Water & Light will be installing a new 8-inch water line on Elm Street. The crews will be working in the right turn lane by Providence Road. Motorists traveling west on Elm Street will still be able to head north on Providence. Although oversized vehicles might need to select another route since the median might prevent them from turning. Drivers are urged to be cautious in the construction area.
The new water line will replace an older 4-inch line and will provide more water to the area for fire fighting purposes. The project is being funded through a water bond issue approved by voters in 2008. No water service disruptions are expected while the water main is being installed on Thursday.
