Stream Team Clean-up in East Campus

COLUMBIA, MO (August 8, 2012) - 

The Columbia Public Works Department announces that on Saturday, August 11, starting at 8:00 a.m., the Crawdad Stream Team will conduct a "unique" stream team clean up activity in the East Campus Neighborhood. While there is no actual stream running downUniversity Ave,Rosemary Street, or other streets in the area, all of the storm drains in the East Campus area do drain directly to the Hinkson creek watershed. 

With a large number of students moving out during the past few weeks, the Office of Neighborhood Services and the East Campus neighborhood have been working to ensure trash and other litter is properly disposed of by providing dumpsters at the corner of University and William Street.

The Crawdad Stream Team efforts are preemptive in an attempt to ensure trash is properly disposed of before it can make its way into the Hinkson Creek Watershed. 

Not members of the team but want to help? Here are the details: 

Date:            Saturday, August 11

Start time:    8:00am

Concerns:    Consider sunscreen, dress for the weather and in clothes that can get dirty, and wear sturdy yet comfortable shoes

Bring:          Water bottle; preferably your own re-usable bottle

Meeting Location: University Ave. and South William Street
Parking:               Anywhere along the street where parking is allowed.

Please consider cycling, walking, or carpooling.

Look for the dumpsters on the corner of William and University. A Crawdad Stream Team member will have a sign-in form and distribute supplies to volunteers.
