Snow and Ice Management   - Noon Update 12-31-2012

COLUMBIA, MO (December 31, 2012) - Snow began falling around 7:30 am this morning. A full crew was in at 7:00 am and have treated the 1st and 2nd priority roadways. Some crews will begin moving onto residential roads now and will continue treating residential roads during normal working hours. Our forecasters are still advising that we should expect snow to continue through early afternoon and then expect some light drizzle and freezing drizzle early this evening with falling temperatures causing wet and slushy surfaces to freeze.  Bridges and other elevated surfaces, as usual, tend to become snow covered and slick first. Secondary and less travelled roads are partially snow covered as of noon.Motorist are urged to use caution on roads throughout the day and this evening. Pedestrians should also use caution on sidewalks.
