City will recognize local fallen soldiers
COLUMBIA, MO (July 16, 2012) - There will be a moment of silence at the City Council meeting this evening to recognize Zane Lee, Army Reserves specialist, who died while stationed at Camp Atterbury in Indiana and Army soldier Sterling Wyatt, who was killed while serving in Afghanistan. The city follows flag directives from the Missouri Governor's Office and expects to fly flags half-staff July 21-27 once the notification has been received. Updated information will be posted on the city's website.
"This is a tremendous loss for our community," said City Manager Mike Matthes. "We extend our deepest sympathies to both families."
The community is encouraged to join the city with this recognition.
