Linemen appreciation lunch on Monday

COLUMBIA, MO (November 16, 2012) -  

Columbia Water & Light is hosting an appreciation luncheon for the Electric Distribution division to thank staff that volunteered for storm restoration and those that covered for them in Columbiawhile they were gone. Members of the media are invited to attend the event.

 

Monday, November 19

11:00 am to noon

1514 Business Loop 70 East, Huechan building

 

 

Thirteen Columbia Water & Light linemen who volunteered to help with superstorm Sandy restoration efforts left Columbia on Monday, October 29 and returned home on Wednesday, November 14. The men replaced damaged poles, wires and electric equipment to restore electric service to thousands of First Energy customers. Several residents that benefited from the crew's assistance in Cleveland, Ohio, Green Pond and Rockaway, New Jersey sent notes to Columbia Water & Light expressing their gratitude.

 

The Missouri Public Utility Alliance in Columbia coordinated the assistance project through a mutual aid program to help utilities during wide-spread outages. Columbia Water & Light pays the salaries of the linemen and then will be reimbursed by First Energy.
