12th Annual Fire Factor

COLUMBIA, MO (September 18, 2012) - 
12TH ANNUAL FIRE FACTOR

Wednesday September 19, 2012 marks the 12th annual Fire Factor event to be held on 9th
Street near Lowry Mall on the University of Missouri campus from 11AM to 3PM.  This program will be held in a joint effort with the University of Missouri.

This year's events will be similar to the previous years with an additional live fire
demonstration to be included which all media outlets should plan on attending.  Events will include:

*Bucket rides from a
95' aerial platform

*Extinguish a live
fire with a fire extinguisher

*Try on real fire gear
and run through an obstacle course for prizes

*Free pizza, soda and t-shirts

The live fire demonstration, which will begin at approximately 11:50 AM at Speaker's Circle (9th and Conley, just down from Lowry Mall), will be an 8 foot by 12 foot replica of a student's bedroom that will be filled with a bed, desk, chairs and all the other things a student would normally find in their room.

Without anything added to enhance the burning, the room will be set on fire to show the speed and ferocity a real fire would exhibit.  This added event will be a unique opportunity to safely view a live fire and its animal-like ability to quickly consume everything around it.

You won't want to miss the public's reaction to this exciting Mizzou experience!
