Suspect In Ash/Ridgeway Hit and Run Accident Arrested

COLUMBIA, MO (August 16, 2013) - SUSPECT IN ASH/RIDGEWAY HIT AND RUN ACCIDENT ARRESTED

 

On 08-15-13, at approximately 2:30 P.M., a Columbia Police Department officer arrested Jesus A. Mendez-Castaneda, 25, after a traffic stop in the 1300 block of Millbrook Court.  Officers had received a report he was in the area.  Mendez-Castenada had been developed as a suspect in the case.  Mendez-Castenada had injuries consistent with being in a crash and admitted he was the driver of the white truck involved.  Mendez-Castenada was also in possession of a controlled substance at the time of his arrest.                         

 

Mendez-Castenada was charged with the following:

 

-Felony leaving the scene of an accident resulting in injury, bond $4,500

-4 counts of Second Degree Assault,                                        bond $18,000

-Operated m/v without a valid license,                                         bond $300

-Felony possession of a controlled substance (cocaine),           bond $4,500

-An immigration detainer by I.C.E,                                                    no bond
