COLUMBIA, MO (December 25, 2013) - For Immediate Release:
Home Fire Sends One to Hospital
On Tuesday December 24, 2013 at 9:59pm, members of the Columbia Fire Department responded to a reported residential structure fire at 212 N. Providence.
Fire crews arrived on the scene at 10:03 p.m. to find smoke showing from the second floor of the residence. The fire was under control within 5 minutes. The structure was occupied by two adults and one child. Smoke alarms were presend and operational. According to Assistant Fire Marshal Tim Bach the cause was unattended incense which ignited a mattress. Damage is estimated at $15,000.00. There were no injuries.
The Columbia Fire Department reminds citizens not to fight a fire. Get out, stay out and call 911.
