Fatality Accident Broadway/Westwood Avenue

COLUMBIA, MO (July 7, 2013) - TYPE OF INCIDENT: Fatality Accident

CASE#: 2013127271

DATE & TIME OCCURRED: 07/07/13 @ 0103 hours                

ACCIDENT LOCATION:    Broadway/Westwood Ave.           

 

DRIVER:    Brandon E. Bainter of Columbia, Mo.                                

                   Age: 29

                     Injured: Fatal

                     Helmet use: No

               Alcohol/Drug use: Unknown/pending further investigation

                          

INCIDENT DETAILS:

The crash occurred as vehicle #1, a black-colored 2004 Honda 1000RR motorcycle, was traveling westbound on Broadway approaching Westwood Avenue.  The rider lost control of the vehicle and left the roadway on the left.  The vehicle then collided with a utility pole.  This caused the rider to be ejected off the motorcycle.  The rider was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The rider was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash as a result of serious injuries sustained in the crash. There were no other vehicles involved.  Excessive speed is believed to be a factor in the crash.

The investigation is ongoing.
