Fairview Road and Rollins Road intersection and sidewalk improvements Closure dates changed

COLUMBIA, MO (July 9, 2013) - Intersection and sidewalk improvements at Fairview and Rollins will begin on Monday, June 24 at 7:00 am. 

Improvements include a mini round-about at Fairview Road and Rollins Road, and sidewalk improvements on the north and south sides of the intersection. 

The intersection of Fairview Road and Rollins Road will remain open during the project, although motorist should expect lane restrictions and delays. 

Rollins Road will be closed during two phases of the project -

During phase III, July 15 through 19, Rollins Road east of Fairview Road will be closed. This closure was originally scheduled to occur this week. Electronic message boards have been updated. 

During phase IV, July 22 through August 2, Rollins Road west of Fairview Road will be closed. 

The completion date for the entire project is August 13, and is weather dependent. Motorist, cyclist, and pedestrians should use caution in the area of the construction and should pursue alternate routes when available.

The total cost of the project is estimated at $500,000. Funding is from the Capital Improvement Sales Tax approved by voters.  The goal of the project is to improve traffic flow, reduce crashes, and improve pedestrian safety and improve walkable routes to school. Fairview Elementary school is very near the project site.
