Habitat for Humanity Home Protected with Home Fire Sprinkler System

COLUMBIA, MO (July 31, 2013) -

Columbia Habitat for Humanity Home

Protected With a Home Fire Sprinkler System
State Farm grant allows national nonprofit Home Fire Sprinkler Coalition to
coordinate fire sprinkler system donation to protect family in new home.

WHO:             Home Fire Sprinkler Coalition (HFSC), Habitat for Humanity of Columbia, State Farm Insurance, and Columbia Fire Department

WHAT:           The national nonprofit HFSC, in conjunction with Habitat for Humanity of Columbia, is hosting an educational open house for the Reh family, which will be moving into a new Habitat for Humanity home in Columbia.

Reliable Automatic Sprinkler Company donated the fire sprinklers and pipe for the home.  Mainline Fire Protection donated the design and labor.

The fire sprinkler installation project was funded through a grant awarded to HFSC by State Farm Insurance. The grant is funding a national educational program that includes installing fire sprinklers in Habitat for Humanity and Homes for Our Troops projects in 15 locations nationwide.

WHEN:           Friday, August 2, 2013

12:00 pm (Noon)

WHERE:         4610 Alan Lane, Columbia, MO

WHY:             More than 80 percent of all fire deaths occur in the home. HFSC is using this open house to help people of every age understand the lifesaving benefits of home fire sprinklers. There are many myths about fire sprinklers, the biggest is people think they all go off at once. Only the sprinkler closest to the fire activates.

HFSC was formed in 1996 to inform the public about the lifesaving value of sprinkler protection in one- and two-family homes.  HFSC is a purely educational 501(c)(3) charitable organization and the leading resource for independent, noncommercial information about residential fire sprinklers. For more information about HFSC and residential fire sprinkler systems, visit www.homefiresprinkler.org.
