Columbia Water & Light nationally recognized for reliability

COLUMBIA, MO (March 25, 2013) - Columbia Water & Light is one of 184 of the nation’s more than 2,000 public power utilities to earn the Reliable Public Power ProviderTM (RP3) recognition. It is awarded by the American Public Power Association (APPA) for providing consumers with the highest degree of reliable and safe electric service. Brent McKinney, manager, electric transmission and distribution at City Utilities of Springfield, Missouri and chair of APPA’s RP3 Review Panel, presented the designees this morning during the association’s annual Engineering & Operations Technical Conference, held in Kissimmee, Florida.

           

The RP3 designation recognizes public power utilities that demonstrate proficiency in four key disciplines: reliability, safety, training and system improvement. Criteria within each category are based on sound business practices and represent a utility-wide commitment to safe and reliable delivery of electricity. Utilities can apply for the recognition every other year. This is Columbia’s fourth time at receiving the RP3 designation since 2007.

 

“We’re thrilled to be recognized nationally for our electric system,” said Ryan Williams, Assistant Director of Columbia Water & Light. “Reliable electricity is important to our community so it is one of our highest priorities.”
