Columbia/Boone County WIC Program Remains Open Despite Federal Shutdown
 
(COLUMBIA, MO) – The Columbia/Boone County Department of Public Health and Human Services WIC Program will remain open for normal business and services despite federal shutdown. The Missouri WIC program has funding available to continue operations in wake of a short term shutdown of the federal government.
 
The WIC program provides, at no cost to qualified participants, nutrition information and checks redeemable for nutritious supplemental foods.  Eligible persons are those who meet WIC income guidelines and are determined to be at nutritional risk.  The WIC program works to educate mothers on how to make nutritious food choices every day for themselves and their children.
 
Persons interested in applying for services or in need of more information can contact the Columbia/Boone County WIC Program at 573-874-7384.  Standards for participation in the WIC program are the same for everyone regardless of race, color, national origin, age, disability, or sex.
