DRIVER #1: Phipps, Gregory L Age: 20

DETAILS OF INCIDENT:
Crash occurred when vehicle #1, a 2003 Toyota Camry, was southbound in the northbound lanes of Highway 63 in the 4100 block. Driver #1 veered off the east side of the roadway for undetermined reasons and was not able to regain control. While off the roadway, driver #1 struck a roadway sign and overturned several times. Vehicle came to a rest on its side on Lenoir St near Eds Mobile Home Park (4150 S. Lenoir). Prior to the crash JCIC had received information from a witness, who was paralleling vehicle #1, they had observed driver #1 get onto Highway 63 from Broadway and travel south in the northbound lanes of Highway 63. Officers had been dispatched in an attempt to locate the vehicle.
Driver #1 was transported from the scene by EMS personnel to The University of Missouri Hospital for life threatening injuries.
Excessive speed and alcohol intoxication are believed to have contributed to the crash; however results of driver #1’s BAC will not be available pending lab analysis.
