PSJC to Activate Outdoor Warning Sirens on Wednesday

COLUMBIA, MO (April 1, 2014) - The next test activation of Boone County's all hazards outdoor warning sirens will take place on Wednesday, April 2.  The test, conducted as a cooperative effort of Public Safety Joint Communications (PSJC) and the Office of Emergency Management (OEM), ensures the county's outdoor warning system is working correctly. 

The outdoor sirens are used as a way to warn citizens in reference to all types of hazards.   They are not designed to be heard by persons who are indoors.  Persons who are indoors are encouraged to purchase a NOAA weather radio, to keep updated on threatening weather events. 

The test is done at Noon on the first Wednesday of each month.  In the event of threatening weather conditions, the test will be postponed.
