Annual City of Columbia commemorative poster to be unveiled at fundraising event for the Columbia Arts Fund

COLUMBIA, MO (August 27, 2014) - On Thursday, Sept. 4, the City of Columbia will unveil its annual commemorative poster at the Poster Party for the Arts, held in the new East Tower Columns Lounge at Memorial Stadium and hosted by MU Athletic Director Mike Alden and his wife, Rockie. Funds raised by the event go toward the Columbia Arts Fund, an arts endowment fund established at the Community Foundation of Central Missouri intended to augment annual funding to arts and culture organizations.

“The Columbia Arts Fund was established to create a sustainable funding source for our local arts and culture organizations,” said JJ Musgrove, director of the City’s Office of Cultural Affairs. “We are thrilled to be the first public event in the new Columns Lounge and to deepen our relationship the University of Missouri.” 

The public is invited to attend this special event that celebrates the arts. Guests will have the opportunity to see this year’s poster unveiled as well at mingle with representatives from city-funded arts agencies. This year’s poster features artwork by local artist Deb Roberts.

“We are honored to work with the Office of Cultural Affairs on the annual Poster Party for the Arts,” said Alden. “The opportunity for Mizzou to partner with the arts and citywide initiatives in Columbia is terrific.”

The event is from 6 to 9 p.m. with the poster unveiling ceremony at 7:30 p.m. For more information and to purchase tickets, please contact the city’s Office of Cultural Affairs at 573-874-6386.
