Snow Operations Update - Sunday, Feburary 9, 4:00pm

COLUMBIA, MO (February 9, 2014) -

Columbia Public Works crews are out plowing Columbia's priority routes again Sunday afternoon, after more snow continues to fall.

Crews salted roadways Friday before the weekend snowfall to fight slick conditions and add traction for customers. After a light snow dusting Friday night, plows were out again maintaining passable conditions on priority routes on Saturday, and warmer day time temperatures helped keep the main roads in pretty good condition.

Columbia got hit again on Sunday afternoon as another band of snow is moving through the area and is expected to drop about 1.5" of snow by the time it's done. Crews have been out plowing priority roads since 11am this morning, and increased their efforts around 3pm when snowfall started to get heavier and predicted accumulations were increased. A 15-person crew will continue to focus on maintaining passable conditions on priority routes this afternoon and this evening.

Customers can get more information on the City's snow and ice management website, www.comosnow.com, or on the Public Works Facebook and Twitter pages.
