Winter Weather Could Pose Dangers

COLUMBIA, MO (February 28, 2014) - COLUMBIA, Mo. - Information from the National Weather Service (NWS) in St. Louis indicates that a significant winter weather event is possible for much of Missouri, including Boone County. A Winter Storm Watch has been issued from Saturday evening through late Sunday night.

With the possibility of five to nine inches of snowfall by early Monday morning, Public Safety Joint Communications discourages unnecessary travel once the storm moves into the area. Motorists who must be out are reminded to leave early for their destination, slow down, steer and brake gently, and allow plenty of room between vehicles.

Residents are also reminded to stay tuned to local media and NOAA Weather Radio for the latest weather information. In addition, PSJC provides updates on traffic and weather conditions as needed through Nixle alerts (www.nixle.com) and/or on the PSJC Facebook page (www.facebook.com/psjc911).
