Two Alarm Fire Damages Two Duplexes

COLUMBIA, MO (June 4, 2014) - The Columbia Fire Department was dispatched to a commercial structure fire at 3700 Woodrail On The Green on Wednesday June 4 at 4:06am. Units arrived less than five minutes later and found heavy fire coming from the roof of 3704 Woodrail On The Green.

Fire crews began an aggressive offensive attack using elevated water streams and pre-connected hose lines. High winds contributed to rapid fire spread, resulting in a second alarm being struck approximately 45 minutes into the event.

Fire crews actively fought this blaze for one and a half hours. A majority of the damage was contained to units 3702 and 3704. Adjacent units 3700 and 3706 received collateral damage.

Fire investigators are on the scene. No cause or damage estimate is available at this time. Eleven units from the Columbia Fire Department responded to this event along with two units from the Boone County Fire Protection District. One fire fighter was transported to University Hospital with a minor injury.
