Columbia Disabilities Issues Forum: City Council and School Board Candidates
COLUMBIA, MO (March 5, 2014) - A partnering group of Mid-Missouri service agencies presents the Columbia Disabilities Issues Forum for Columbia City Council and Columbia School Board candidates. It will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Tuesday, March 11, in City Hall conference rooms 1A/1B.
All City Council and School Board candidates for the April 8 election have been invited to participate in this forum. The candidates for City Council in the First Ward are Tyree Byndom, Ginny Chadwick and Bill Easley. The candidate for City Council in the Fifth Ward is Laura Nauser. The candidates for Columbia School Board are Paul Cushing, Helen Wade, Jonathan Sessions and Joseph Toepke.
The forum will be a moderated format. Each candidate will present an opening statement, and the moderator will then pose questions relating to disabilities issues surrounding the community and its schools.
Those who would like to participate in this forum but need transportation should contact Ron at Services for Independent Living, (573) 874-1646, ext. 248. Rides will need to be scheduled by March 7.
The co-hosting partners presenting the forum are: ACT, Boone County Family Resources, Central Missouri Subcontracting Enterprises, Columbia Disabilities Commission, Columbia Universal Design Coalition, CoMO Disabilities Advocacy Network, JobPoint, Great Plains ADA Center, Mid-Missouri Advocacy Coalition, Missouri Association for Social Welfare, Paquin Tower Resident Association, People First of Boone County, Services for Independent Living and Woodhaven.
