Board of Health, Substance Abuse Advisory Commission Seeks Public Input Regarding Proposed Marijuana Amendments

COLUMBIA, MO (May 1, 2014) - COLUMBIA, MO - The Board of Health and the Substance Abuse Advisory Commission will hold a public hearing regarding the proposed amendments to Chapter 16 of the City Code as it relates to marijuana on Thursday, May 8, 2014. The public hearing is an agenda item for the Board of Health and Substance Abuse Advisory Commission combined meeting.  Interested parties are invited to attend the 5:30 p.m. meeting at the Columbia/Boone County Department of Public Health and Human Services located at 1005 W. Worley in Columbia.

The two groups invite members of the public to speak on the proposed amendments brought before the Columbia City Council in March 2014 regarding marijuana cultivation and possession.

“During its April meeting, the Substance Abuse Advisory Commission agreed that working collaboratively with the Board of Health was the best approach,” Steve Hollis, Human Services Manager and staff liaison to the Substance Abuse Advisory Commission, said.
