COLUMBIA, MO (November 11, 2014) - The City of Columbia's Community Development Department is hosting an Interested Parties meeting on Wednesday, November 19, 2014, from 3:30-5:00 pm, pertaining to the long term lease of a tract of land and funding availability for the development of a Homeless Drop-In Center.  The meeting will be held at City Hall Room 1A, 701 E. Broadway. The event is intended for local qualified non-profit organizations serving homeless populations.

The purpose of this event will be to inform interested local non-profit organizations on how to submit proposals for utilization of the site and CDBG funds in the next CDBG request for proposals process.  Topics will include:

Resources available (CDBG, surplus funds, proposed site, social services funding).

Required zoning.

Description of a viable proposal.

Required capital & operating budget information for proposals.

City Council set aside 2012 general revenue surplus funds to purchase a tract of land for the development of a homeless drop-in center.  The City has purchased a tract of land on N. Eighth street for this purpose.  The Community Development Department will be including a long term lease of the lot in its annual CDBG RFP process in Spring of 2015.  The interested parties meeting will provide local organizations additional information in developing a proposal.  Proposals are estimated to be due by April 30, 2015.  Donation of the lot must go to a qualified non-profit organization.

To learn more about the proposed site for a Homeless Drop-In Center and/or CDBG funding, call 573.874.6321.  Please RSVP to Kathy Sides at 573.874.7244 or kesides at gocolumbiamo.com.
