COMO Connect closed for Thanksgiving, but offering extra service Friday
COLUMBIA, MO (November 25, 2014) - Closed for Thanksgiving
COMO Connect bus routes will not be in service on Thursday, November 27th in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday so that our staff can enjoy the holidays with their families. The COMO Connect staff wants to wish all of our customers a very happy and safe Thanksgiving Day!
The University of Missouri will not be running the free Tiger Line bus service all week while MU students are away on Thanksgiving break, but these routes will return to normal service the week of Sunday, November 30th.
Friday Bus Service
Customers can count on COMO Connect buses returning to their usual routes and weekday schedules on Friday after the holiday, with a few minor exceptions. The number 1 Black route will be running as usual but without the extra buses on the "additional mid-day service schedule" that run on the south loop only and primarily serve college students reaching campus. Also, the number 10 Red Downtown route will detour Hospital Drive on the south edge of its route from one hour before the football game until one hour after the game ends due to anticipated heavy traffic.
The city is excited to also offer customers the Game Day Football routes to the Mizzou game versus Arkansas on Friday as well. The city's Multi-Modal Manager, Drew Brooks says "Local fans and hotels have come to rely on the bus service provided on MU football game days, and the Arkansas rivalry game will be no different. We've got a great team of our drivers that will be working that day so that we can provide transportation to customers that need to get to work, as well as fans getting safely to and from the game."
Football bus routes will begin picking customers up at 11:00am on Friday morning at local hotels and shopping centers, and starting at 11:30am at some popular pregame locations downtown before heading to the game. Customers can also take advantage of the football bus routes for a safe ride back after the game as well. These special game day routes are the same price as a normal bus trip at only $1.50 each way, or customers can use a COMO Connect bus pass.
The city reminds customers to travel safely this holiday season. Heavy traffic on Friday may bring traffic and transit delays, so plan ahead and take advantage of the free bus tracking app, DoubleMap, for real time updates and information on bus routes and timing.
