Fire in mobile home on Vandiver Drive

COLUMBIA, MO (October 19, 2014) - Units from the Columbia Fire Department were dispatched at 4:36 pm to 1501 Vandiver Drive Lot 189 for a reported residential structure fire. Crews arrived at 4:39pm to find smoke and flames coming from the structure.  There was one occupant at home at the time of the fire and there were no injuries associated with this fire.

Assistant Fire Marshal Tim Bach stated the cause of the fire was unattended cooking. There were no working smoke alarms in this home.  The damage is estimated at $3000.

Seven units from the Columbia Fire Department responded to this call. The Columbia Fire Department reminds citizens that smoke alarms save lives and provide early notification of a fire in your home.
