COMO Connect Prepares for Homecoming Weekend

COLUMBIA, MO (October 21, 2014) -

Safe Ride to the Game

The City of Columbia and COMO Connect wish to welcome all fans to Mizzou this weekend for another exciting Tigers Homecoming celebration! Fans are encouraged to plan ahead for their transportation, and enjoy a safe ride to and from the game using COMO Connect Game Day Football Bus Routes. These special game day routes offer convenient pickups at area hotels, shopping centers, and the District and drop off customers just steps from the stadium before the game. Customers can also catch a safe ride back to downtown parking, area hotels, or many post-game hot spots in the District after the game. Anyone can ride for only $1.50 per person each way, or by using a valid COMO Connect bus pass. Customers are asked to have exact change and to avoid bringing beverages or coolers onto the bus.

The downtown area is served by two different game day football bus routes that start at 1:00pm and run about every 10-15 minutes. The West Downtown route picks up customers from the Wabash Bus Station, the Armory parking lot, Shiloh's, Flat Branch, and Bengals. The East Downtown route picks up customers from the Wabash Bus Station, the Armory parking lot, the Eighth and Walnut parking garage, Bleu Restaurant, and Harpo's.

Area hotels will also have the convenient game day bus routes starting at 12:30pm Saturday, as well as return routes after the game. For a complete list of the over 20 hotels, restaurants, and shopping centers serviced on these routes, visit www.comoconnect.org.

Other Homecoming Festivities

Daily COMO Connect bus routes and schedules will be slightly adjusted on Homecoming weekend to allow for the many festive traditions happening near campus. Part of Rollins Street will be shut down on Friday evening from 5-9pm to accommodate the Mizzou Homecoming Campus Decorations (House Decs), which will place the 1 Black Core Connector route on detour for the last few hours of its route Friday evening.

1A Black route: Northbound bus will turn east on Stadium Blvd from Providence Rd, north on Tiger Ave, and return to normal route at Tiger Ave and Rollins St. The southbound bus will turn east on Stewart Ave from Providence Rd, south on 6th St, east on Conley Ave, south on Tiger Ave, and return to normal route on Tiger Ave and Rollins St.

1B Black route: Northbound bus will turn north on Tiger Ave from Rollins St, west on Conley Ave, north on 6th St, west on Stewart Ave, and return to normal route at Stewart Ave and Providence Rd. The southbound bus will turn south on Tiger Ave from Rollins St, west on Stadium Blvd, and return to normal route at Stadium Blvd and Providence Rd.

COMO Connect will also delay its Saturday morning start time for all fixed routes and ParaTransit services until 11:25am to allow for the Mizzou Homecoming parade to march through campus and downtown Columbia.
