Road Closure - Scott Blvd Phase III Construction Begins Friday, August 28

COLUMBIA, MO (August 27, 2015) - REMINDER -

Emery Sapp & Sons, a contractor for the City of Columbia, will begin work on the Scott Blvd Phase III project on Friday, August 28 at 7:00 am.

Scott Blvd Phase III involves rebuilding the roadway from Vawter School Road south to State Route KK; about 1.8 miles of roadway. Project highlights include improved line of sight along the entire project, left turn pockets, water quality cells for stormwater runoff, and in partnership with Columbia Public Schools, a new round-about at Scott Blvd and Route KK. The construction cost for this project is - eight million dollars financed through the voter approved 2005 1/4 cent Capital Improvement Sales Tax, Transportation Sales Tax funds, and County Road Improvement funds.

The entire project is slated for substantial completion late summer of 2016 to coincide with the opening of the new elementary school under construction on the northwest corner of Scott Blvd and Route KK.

The project is being broken into two phases; phase A and B.
Phase A is between Rt KK and Leighton Drive.  Phase B is between Leighton Dr and Vawter School Rd.

Scott Blvd between Rt KK and Leighton Dr will be closed to all traffic starting at 7:00 am on Friday, August 28. Leighton Dr at Scott Blvd will remain open to traffic during Phase A. The roadway and new round-about is scheduled to open in late spring of 2016. This closure includes the intersection of Scott Blvd and Route KK and a short section of Rt. KK west of Scott Blvd.

Motorist living west of the Scott Blvd and Route KK intersection can go north on Howard Orchard Road to Brushwood Lake Rd to Vawter School Rd as an alternate route.

Motorist living south of the Scott Blvd and Route KK intersection can use Route K to Forum Bv, Bethel St, or South Providence Road as alternate routes.

Motorist and non-motorized transportation users should use caution in the work zone and find alternate routes.
