Lane Restrictions and sidewalk closures caused by heavy rains and stormwater pipe failures - 

COLUMBIA, MO (July 2, 2015) - Fairview Rd near Summit will experience narrow traffic lanes after a stormwater pipe failed during Wednesday evenings heavy rains. A stretch of sidewalk on Fairview Rd near Summit is closed. 

Crews have begun to excavate the failed pipe and eroded area to allow any additional stormwater to flow. The permanent repairs will begin the week of July 6. The pipe size needed for the repair is not in stock locally and is being shipped.  

Towne Dr just north of Clark Ln will also experience narrowed traffic lanes after a stormwater pipe failed during Wednesday evenings heavy rains. A sink hole about 8 feet deep was created when the pipe failed. Stormwater maintenance and street department crews have back filled the sinkhole with 1 inch rock until permanent repairs can be scheduled. 

Motorist and non-motorized transportation users should use caution in these two areas until repairs are complete.
