Register Your Neighborhood Event for National Night Out!

COLUMBIA, MO (July 20, 2015) - Help build a stronger, safer community by giving crime a going away party! Meet your neighbors, get a visit from City staff, share food and stories, and most of all, have fun.

This year, National Night Out is Tuesday evening, August 4. According to the National Association of Town Watch, "National Night Out is a cohesive effort to promote involvement in crime prevention activities, police-community partnerships, and neighborhood camaraderie."

The City of Columbia encourages neighborhoods to hold an event and to register it with the Community Development Department--the online registration can be found at http://goo.gl/forms/wJpYiOK7J9. Important things to consider when setting up an event include:

*The type of event (potluck dinner, dessert social, neighborhood cleanup, etc.)

*The time of the event

*The location of the event
