ARREST MADE IN SHOOTING NEAR 2900 RANGE LINE STREET

COLUMBIA, MO (June 1, 2015) - Anthony Wayne Hayes, Jr, 33, of Columbia was arrested on Saturday for Armed Criminal Action and Robbery in the 1st Degree in reference to the 5/11/15 shooting near 2900 Range Line Street. The shooting resulted in a male victim, 31, with a gunshot wound to his stomach.

 

On 5/30/15, officers observed a green Range Rover traveling west on Blue Ridge Road. Officers conducted a traffic stop with the vehicle due to the front license plate not being properly displayed and the vehicle’s dark tinted windows. Officers made contact with the driver, identified as Hayes. Hayes had a suspended driver’s license and was detained. During search of the vehicle, officers located a rock of cocaine near the center console. Officers arrested Hayes at 7:32 P.M. for Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance with a bond of $4,500.00 and for Misdemeanor Operated Motor Vehicle on Highway While License Revoked with a bond of $500.00. Hayes was transported to Columbia Police Department.

 

Prior to this traffic stop, probable cause had been established for the arrest of Hayes in reference to the 5/11/15 shooting. Hayes was additionally charged at 8:52 P.M. on 5/30/15 for Armed Criminal Action with a to be set bond and Robbery in the 1st Degree with a to be set bond.
