Columbia Water Quality reports available

COLUMBIA, MO (June 1, 2015) - 

Columbia Water & Light will be mailing an annual Water Quality report to all utility customers during the month of June. It explains the source of Columbia’s drinking water and lists any substances found in measurable quantities during water quality testing. 



Columbia’s water is tested more frequently and more thoroughly than is required by law. More than 4,000 tests are run each year on samples from 41 locations throughout Columbia. The water supplied to customers meets all water quality standards set by the Environmental Protection Agency and the Missouri Department of Natural Resources.



The Water Quality report is sent out yearly, in compliance with the Environmental Protection Agency’s Safe Drinking Water Act. The report is also available in the lobby of City Hall, 701 E. Broadway, on the internet at GoColumbiaMo.com or by calling 573-874-7325 to have one mailed.               



Not listed in the 2015 Water Quality Report is the many contaminants for which the water was tested, but none was detected. For those interested in a complete listing of all the water quality test results, they can be viewed on the city’s web site or can request a copy be mailed to them.
