Columbia Fire Department dispatched to investigate a building collapse

COLUMBIA, MO (March 15, 2015) - At 10:38 a.m. Sunday March 15, 2015, the Columbia Fire Department responded to a reported building collapse at 1011 Queen Ann Drive, Eagle Crest Apartments. A resident called 911 and advised they heard a loud boom and the ceiling in the living room looked like it was about to collapse.

Columbia Firefighters arrived at 10:43 a.m. and determined the ceiling sheetrock had pulled loose from the ceiling joists.  A representative from Building, Site and Development responded to the scene to verify stability of the structure.

There were no injuries and everyone had evacuated the apartment prior to unit’s arrival.

Three engines, a ladder, a rescue squad, the air truck and technical rescue trailer responded to the incident.  The last fire unit cleared the scene at 11:58 a.m.
