Council Member Mike Trapp’s News Conference 

COLUMBIA, MO (March 16, 2015) - When: Monday, March 16, starting at 4 p.m.

Where: Council Chamber, City Hall, 701 E. Broadway

What: Council member Mike Trapp will be stating his opposition to SB 455, the bill pre-empting local “Ban the Box” requirements. The bill is scheduled for hearing in the Senate Small Business, Insurance and Industry Committee on Tuesday, March 17, at 1 p.m. in SCR 1.

SB 455 would strip local control from cities and eliminate Columbia's “Ban the Box” ordinance. "The rushed nature of these hearings, being only announced at the end of last week, highlights the need for local control of these issues,” Trapp said. “Ban the Box” was only adopted after a lengthy and extensive process of public engagement at the local level."
