Garth and Texas intersection closed for water project

COLUMBIA, MO (October 16, 2015) - On Tuesday, October 20, from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., the intersection of Texas and Garth avenues will be closed. Columbia Water & Light is working on the replacement of a water line on Texas Avenues. Crews will work through the night to minimize traffic issues. Motorists will be detoured around the intersection. Customers will be individually notified of any water service disruptions.

 

The water main on Texas Avenue is approaching the end of its useful life and has been experiencing breaks. The existing pipe is being replaced with an eight-inch and twelve-inch water main. The upgraded water line will increase the amount of water that can be delivered to the area for consumers and for firefighting purposes. It will also increase the reliability of water service in the area. The water project is expected to be finished this fall.
