Two injured after shots fired near the Connector
COLUMBIA, MO (April 25, 2016) - At approximately 2:47 p.m. today, officers were dispatched to a local hospital in reference to two subjects entering the facility and reported being shot at while driving.
Preliminary investigation revealed a verbal altercation occurred in the 700 block of Walnut Street between the victims and suspects, who were known to one another. It was reported the suspects proceeded to follow the victims from Downtown to the area of Highway 63 Connector and I-70 East. The suspects then fired rounds at the victims’ vehicle, causing injuries to the victims. The hospital was not definitively able to confirm if the injuries were caused by bullets, or by the car's glass or other vehicle fragments placed into motion by the bullets striking the vehicle. The victims drove themselves to the hospital, where officers later secured the vehicle to be processed for evidence. The investigation is on-going.
The suspects are described as at least three black males driving a dark colored vehicle. If you have any information regarding this incident, please contact the Columbia Police Department, or call CrimeStoppers at (573) 875-TIPS to remain anonymous.
