Fatality crash at US 63 and Vandiver

COLUMBIA, MO (February 20, 2016) - TYPE OF INCIDENT: Fatality Crash

DATE & TIME OCCURRED: 2/20/16 @ 12:10 p.m.                       

                                                                                   

ACCIDENT LOCATION: U.S. 63/Vandiver                       

 

DRIVER 1:                   John Guffey                                                           

                                  Ashland, MO                                               

                                  Age: 46

                                  Injured: Fatal

                                  Seatbelt use: Yes

                                 Alcohol/Drug use: Pending further investigation

 

DRIVER 2:                  Homer Couch

                                 Annada, MO           

                                 Age: 63

                                 Injured: None

                                 Seatbelt use: Yes

                                 Alcohol/Drug use: No           

 

INCIDENT DETAILS:

 

The crash occurred as vehicle #1, a red 2013 Ford Fusion, was traveling southbound on U.S. 63 near Vandiver. Vehicle #2, a white 2005 Peterbuilt Semi, was traveling northbound on U.S. 63 near Vandiver. Vehicle #1 veered to the left for an unknown reason, crossing the median. Vehicle #1 came into the northbound traffic and crashed into the side of vehicle #2. Driver 1 was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash. Driver 2 had no known injuries.

 

The investigation is on-going.
