**Columbia Fire Department Responds to Basement Fire

COLUMBIA, MO (February 26, 2016) - **The contact number for the on-call Public Information Officer is 573-441-6608**

The Columbia Fire Department was dispatched to a residential structure fire at 4328 Stevendave Drive on Friday, February 26, 2016 at 5:pm.  

Fire department personnel arrived on the scene less than five minutes later and observed heavy smoke coming from the home.

Fire crews performed an aggressive fire attack using a preconnected hose line and brought the fire under control in approximately five minutes.  The origin of the fire was a basement laundry room.  Fire investigators are on the scene and have not determined a cause.

One adult and four children were home at the time of the fire.  There were no reported injuries.

Seven units from the Columbia Fire Department responded to this call.
